ASLC Devotions - Wednesday

 Psalm 126

1When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.
2Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”
3The Lord has done great things for us, and we rejoiced.
4Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like the watercourses in the Negeb.
5May those who sow in tears reap with shouts of joy.
6Those who go out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, carrying their sheaves.

When we read the psalms we experience the great ups and downs of faith – those deep laments, the overwhelming joy and thanksgiving, the moments of worship and praise. Psalm 126 recalls a time when the people’s prayers and dreams were restored, “and we rejoiced.” But again the people approach the God with a request: “Restore our fortunes, O Lord.”

They have seen amazing things happen in their lives, and trust that again those amazing feats can happen. I suspect that we have all seen “great things” happen. Let us trust that God will restore our tears with joy.

Peace,

Pastor Jenn
