ASLC Devotions - Wednesday

Psalm 90:1-2 Lord, you have been our dwelling-place
   in all generations.
Before the mountains were brought forth,
or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

During this season of Advent we talk a great deal in the church about watching and waiting. We talk about patience and expectation. We prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ into the world as a baby born 2000 years ago, and we prepare for Jesus' coming into our own lives in 2012. We watch and we wait for Jesus to come in power to set all things right. These are the themes of the Advent season, from a church perspective. It occurs to me today that it would be good to reflect a bit on the one in whom we wait, the one in whom we have patience and hope.

We wait and God. We watch for God. We wait living in the hope of God. We wait and we hope in the God who has been our dwelling-place in all generations. God has never failed us before, and so we can wait in trust and confidence now. We know that God will never fail.

In Christ,
Pastor Seth
