ASLC Devotions - Monday

2 Kings 17:41 So these nations worshipped the Lord, but also served their carved images; to this day their children and their children’s children continue to do as their ancestors did.

I am not writing this morning anything in particular about the style of worship of "these nations" referenced in 2 Kings. Whether it was OK or not to serve carved images along with God (hint: it's not) is not the point to ponder for today. Today I just want to focus on the idea that "to this day their children and their children's children continue to do as their ancestors did."

YOU are the primary teacher of faith for your children and for your grandchildren. Parents who make worship and prayer a priority in their lives have children who grow to make worship and prayer a priority in their lives. Simple, but profound. There are obviously no guarantees in life and everyone makes their own decisions and chooses their own paths. But if you care about the faith-life of your children or your grandchildren or the children in your neighborhood, the number one thing you can do is to care about your faith-life. Pass it on. It works. It's the only way it has ever worked.

In Christ,
Pastor Seth
