Matthew 2: 11 On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure-chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Strange gifts for a baby shower, huh? Where are the diapers? Where are stuffed animals, the blankets, the jumpy things? The Magi gave the things they knew how to give, the most treasured things they had.
Christina Rosetti wrote a poem that I contemplate with you today:
"What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb,
If I were a wise man
I would do my part.
Yet what can I give Him?
Give my heart."
In Christ,
Pastor Seth
