James 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Show by your good life that your works are done with gentleness born of wisdom.
I've never been much for New Year's Resolutions. I have made them at times in the past, but it's not something that I do yearly. And generally, I don't live up to them that well. In that respect, I'd suspect that I'm pretty similar to the most of the rest of you.
If I were inclined to make a New Year's Resolution this year, I might look for inspiration to this passage from James. Martin Luther might not be proud (he didn't like the book of James) but it's a good place to start. "Show by your good life that your works are done with gentleness born of wisdom." Gentleness, wisdom, good life. If I could aspire to anything this year, that is what I aspire for my life to be marked by. Maybe you too?
